Areas of Expertise

My practice is often full. I welcome new adult clients into my practice when an opening occurs. Please note I am no longer accepting new child clients into my practice. The therapist finder tool on Psychology Today is a resource for finding therapists with current availability www.psychologytoday.com

I have expertise working with young adult and adult women who are experiencing anxiety and depression related to life challenges and changes. These could include but are not limited to relationship transitions, career changes, going to college, infertility, pregnancy, and becoming a parent or ongoing challenges related to parenting.

We will work together to clarify your concerns and identify realistic goals.  I will help you build on your existing personal strengths, enhance your social support network, and challenge ways of thinking that are contributing to your distress. I will ask you to be an active participant in your treatment and work on strategies between sessions to optimize your progress.

I have specialized training to work with women struggling with anxiety and depression in the perinatal period, including families of parents of children who have spent time in the NICU. I will support you through this major life transition as we work to improve your symptoms and balance your identity  as a parent and partner with your identity and needs as an individual.

I can also work with you on developing your bond with your infant, reading your baby's cues, and developing a schedule for your child during the ongoing changes and challenges of the first few years of life. This often includes at least a few sessions with you and your baby or young child together. Together we will work to strengthen your sense of self-efficacy as a parent and increase positive interactions between you and your child.

I do not provide medications, but I will refer you to a medical provider if I believe medication would be a helpful adjunct to therapy.

Approach to Therapy

I am experienced with several evidence based treatments. My approach is integrative, and I draw from cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, mindfulness, positive psychology, psychodynamic, and family systems models of treatment.

I offer short term, goal directed treatment as well as longer term growth oriented treatment for adult women. Together we will determine what the correct approach is for you based on your wishes, needs, and current research.

I will ask you to fill out evidence based assessments at the start of treatment and at time points throughout so that we can track progress towards treatment goals and make decisions about readiness for discharge.
